5 Practical Magic Tips To Use In Your Home
1. Smudging. Smudging is a great way to clear the
energy in your space. Light a smudge stick (can be bought online, homemade, or
purchased at Elements Herbal Apothecary on Main Street in St. Charles). As you
walk through each room of your home, set your intention by saying the words:
Smoke of Air, Fire of Earth, Cleanse and Bless This Home and Hearth. Drive Away
All Harm and Fear. Only Good May Enter Here.
2. Having Guests Over? Burn a white candle by the
front door to purify any negative energy they may bring with them into your
home.
3. Setting Up Your Altar. The home altar is a space
for sanctuary. It is a center for meditation and a sacred place to call forth
spiritual energies; energies that you can return to and tap into as needed. You
can set up on a coffee table draped with a beautiful cloth, an antique bench or
something in between. It is simply your "workbench" for your magical
practice. Your altar is a direct reflection of your spiritual landscape, so
take special care when constructing it. Every item on your altar should have
deliberate symbolism connected to your intention. Generally, all altars consist
of a central focus item, a light/fire source, an animal or plant totem, and
incense or smudge. Make sure everything you choose for your altar brings you
joy.
4. Crystals, crystals, crystals. Crystals have been
shown to vibrate at their own frequencies, and even respond to the input of
vibrations. So, when we come into contact
with a crystal, its vibration interacts with the vibration of the cells in our
body. Some are meant to help with relaxation, while others assist in
sharpening the mind and concentration. Every Witch needs a few crystals by her
bed. Rose quartz for love and empathy, amethyst for a good night’s sleep and
moonstone to help guard against nightmares.
5. Spirit Cleansing. Every time you take a shower,
visualize releasing your negative energy and emotions. Concentrate on the
sensation of the water on your skin and let what no longer serves you wash away.
Envision fear, anger, and regret swirling down the drain. Try using a salt
scrub. Salt has long been used in magical rituals for psychic clearing and for
purification.
